Follow the steps below to become a member of DSA SF.
As a reminder, all the events on our calendar are open to everyone regardless of membership status, and events with a 🐣 are especially new-member (or non-member) friendly, no experience required.
Step 1: Join DSA National
Become a member of DSA by paying dues to the national organization. 20% of your monthly dues gets allocated back to our chapter.
Please note: no one will be turned away for lack of funds. If you’d like to join but cannot afford to contribute financially, please complete this dues waiver form.
If you have questions about your DSA membership, please start here: dsausa.org/resources/faq
Step 2: Get Involved
If you’d like to get involved with our organizing work, attend one or more events (found on our events page) and request a one-on-one call from a DSA SF member by filling out the form below.
Please note: Both Step 1 and Step 2 are required in order to gain access to chapter tools such as Slack.
Step 3: Pay Local Dues (Optional)
A recurring monthly donation to DSA SF is considered “local dues.” 100% of your local dues go to our chapter. Local dues help fund our work and cover chapter expenses, but please note that this does not replace your donation to DSA National with regards to membership status or voting rights.
In 2024, local contributions accounted for over 86% of our yearly income.
