Keep Market Street Moving

February marks 6 months of DSA SF being part of the Keep Market Street Moving coalition. In this time, we have held flyering events, organized a discussion with RDU, attended regular coalition strategy meetings, and made noise at SFMTA Board meetings. Thanks to the coalition, this issue has garnered lots of attention and is now driving a wedge between Mayor Lurie and his centrist ally, District 5 Supervisor Bilal Mahmood. Overall, the coalition has been the primary obstacle impeding the Mayor’s attempt to privatize car-free Market Street.

Nonetheless, there is much more work to be done; namely, urging the SFMTA Board to officially close the commercial vehicle loophole. If you are interested, please reach out to the Ecosocialism Working Group/Public Transit Project to get involved!
